List building at first glance might look like an uphill task. However in reality you can make it easy by simply using a few smart methods. The trick is to put your list building on auto pilot. In this way you will be able to free up your time for other important tasks.

Articles: article distribution will bring in many targeted subscribers. You can have a set of articles written or just write some yourself every month. You will then be able to distribute a certain amount each week. Write your articles on interesting subjects. This will include; latest news stories in your market, latest ways to promote, interesting facts about products, services in your market and interesting topics that your market will enjoy and want to know more about. You can find out hot topics by going to forums related to your market. Once set up article distribution will bring you in an increasing amount of targeted subscribers.

Website subscription box: this is an easy way to build your list. All you need is an autoresponder to handle this for you. When visitors fill in the subscription box it goes straight to your autoresponder which will add them to your list and generate a thank you page. You just build your website and drive targeted traffic to it; the autoresponder will do the rest. This will also work on auto pilot.

Subscription box swap: you can find related businesses to yours and swap subscription boxes with them. In this way you will get more subscribers who are highly targeted and responsive. You will forge good business partners this way and be able to do joint ventures with them in the future.

Swap ads: you can swap ads with other list owners. Either you can put in each others newsletters or you can put it at the end of your thank you letters to new subscribers. This will continue to attract subscribers. Again try to find at least 10 list owners a month.

Viral e-book or free report: Write or have written an interesting e-book or report and put a couple of links to your landing page. Give it away as a free gift and encourage others to do so. You will set off a viral marketing campaign that will snowball and keep on delivering warm responsive subscribers.

Use multiple list building techniques: always use as many list building techniques as you can. This will ensure that your list grows bigger and better with good responsive subscribers.

Test every method: it is critical to your list building efforts to test every method carefully. You can do this by split testing with landing pages. Make sure those subscribers from each strategy that you are using are going to a separate landing page. You can monitor each landing page for quantity and quality of traffic. You can see how many actually sign up for your list from each method. Build on successful methods and discard failing ones. In this way you will not be wasting time on any promotions that will not bring you the right subscribers.
