Building our subscribers list, as they say, should be our number 1 priority whatever products or services we sell online. We always hear that the “money is in the list”, and we should expect to earn at least $1 per subscriber per month. That’s true, because by building your list, you are also building stability to your business. Your business is not stable unless you have thousands of subscribers where you can market your product and make money on demand.

Even if you are an expert in driving traffic to your website, and let’s say you are converting high with the traffic that you get, it is still not enough if you are aiming for a long-term business. Yes, you can still make money, but it’s not enough. Imagine, driving traffic to your website every single day without building your list. What if the traffic slows down? How do you make money in that scenario? If you have thousands of subscribers in your list, you can still get instant traffic and make money even if the traffic from other sources slows down. All you have to do is send an email, and wait for the sales come in, but of course it all boils down how well do you manage your list, and how responsive they are, so make sure to build a long-lasting relationship to your subscribers.

At this point, you know the importance of having a list of subscribers. But how do you build your subscribers list? There are a lot of ways to build your list, but one of the most effective ways to do it is with articles. Write a simple, straight-to-the-point, and informative 300-500 word article and submit it to top article directories. You can just focus on the top 10 article sites. Always keep it simple and don’t bore your readers with a long 800-1500 word article, your goal is to make it simple for them to read and direct them to your squeeze page or blog on the resource box. Once you have them on your squeeze page or blog, offer something valuable, a free gift that is also related with the article.

For example, if your article talks about “how to lose 10lbs in 30 days”, you can offer them a free report about “discover how to lose weight without starving yourself with diets, and still eat 3 times a day”. The person will probably be curious on how they can lose weight without making any diets and still eat 3 times a day, and most likely will enter their details to download your free report. They found it valuable and became your subscriber.

The best way to build your subscribers list fast with articles is to have multiple products on a different topics to give away. Let’s say you are in IM niche, you can set-up 5 squeeze pages for “making money online”, “article marketing”, “list building”, “traffic building”, and “affiliate marketing. What you can do is, write 10 articles for each of those topics, that’s a total of 50 articles, or you can let someone write it for you if you don’t like writing. Then watch the articles to build list for you passively. For each of those articles, make sure to provide a link to your squeeze page on the resource box that also relates with your article. Remember, keep it simple and provide more once they became your subscriber. Internet Marketing is a numbers game, so work them out. There are several people saying that article marketing is dead. What they don’t know is building your subscribers list with articles still work if you know the proper method of doing it.

Don’t just focus on one thing that you can give away, the more you give, the more you gain. This is what I call “selling less, and giving more”. Focus on building your subscribers list by giving more. Once you have their trust, money will come in naturally, because they know that you are credible, and if you recommend a product, they know that it will benefit them. Building your list with articles is still one of the most effective ways, and by using articles, you are driving targeted traffic, and building targeted list as well.

There are other ways to build your list, but always include articles as one of your ways to build your list. It may be slow in the beginning, but imagine, once you have 10 articles for each of your 5 squeeze pages, it will build list for you passively for the years to come. And of course, don’t stop there, continue to add articles and if you have another product on a different topic that you want to give away, then write another 10 articles for that topic. Always remember, “many streams make a river”, add more streams to build your list, and you can do it with articles.

List Building Tips: Why You Need a List

I was recently surprised when someone who was new to affiliate marketing asked me. . .”Why do you need a list anyway?”

That’s a good question. And many newcomers are probably asking themselves the same thing. When we first start out, we aren’t really thinking in terms of long-term profit and we don’t really have the statistics ingrained in our brains. We’re just trying to figure out how to make money .. .so the list-building concept may not be all that intuitive.

This article is the first in a series of list building tips. Here I’m going to focus on why everyone (yes, everyone) in business benefits from growing a list.

But first, what is a list anyway? It’s basically just a series of people who have (hopefully) given you their contact information. These contacts are considered leads and the quality of these leads can vary greatly. For example, if you have a list of people who have specifically requested that you send them information about a product that you promote or the business you are involved in, that list is extremely targeted and qualified. If you have a list of contacts who are interested in your industry in general but haven’t shown any interest in your particular product or business, that too is a fairly targeted list.

Buying leads is another (not recommended by me) way to build a list. That would be considered pretty low on the list quality totem pole.

Remember that you might also have several different lists that each represent a certain niche or target market or quality level. You will want to market differently to each of these lists but that is another topic for a future article.

So, on to the real list building tips article number 1: five reasons you want to start building your list now if you haven’t done so already.

1. Increase your earnings, even from the people who don’t buy your product. Anyone who has already learned the lesson will gladly tell you. . .not having a list means not earning up to your potential. Look at it this way. You advertise a product for a month and you get a certain amount of sales from this. If you don’t have the contact details of the people who bought this product, you have made just one sale per person. If you do have the contact details, you can offer these people more similar products, or upgraded products of the ones they have purchased.

Or. . .look at it this way. Someone is interested in your product but they don’t purchase it right now. If you can get them on your list, you can send them reminders about this product or others they may be interested. If not. . .oh well, off they go to your competitors.

It’s important to point out here that the buyers are the ones who will continue to buy. If you’ve sold a product to someone, you can be assured that this person is much more likely to buy that same product again or the next product you offer than someone who hasn’t bought from you. That’s just one more reason to build a list.

2. You don’t need your own product or business yet. . .and you can make money while building. Many people get started with marketing online and they don’t really have a clear idea about what they want to do. Or maybe they are trying lots of different things. As far as list-building goes, that’s perfectly fine! You can start out promoting someone else’s product as an affiliate and build your list that way. As you start to learn more about online marketing and get a clearer picture of where you want to go, you are actually building up one of your biggest assets that will serve you in the future.

3. You can do market research for free. Building a list means having access to feedback and ideas. This goes hand in hand with number 2. Once you can maintain contact with people, you’re able to ask them what they are looking for and in turn, you can develop your marketing strategies accordingly.

4. Building your own list means building your brand/image. The Internet is an amazing power. But you can get lost in a sea of cold websites and hypey sales pages. Building a list puts you on a more personal level with your customer and allows you to establish a rapport. Who do you think people are more likely to buy from. . .the person they’ve never seen before of the guy/gal who sends them those really cool emails about something they are interested in. . .?

5. Your own lists represent multiple sources of income. The ideas you get from your list and from what actually compelled them to join your list allows you to create your own products/services or seek out others that you can offer them.

List building can be creative – the more you put yourself and your personality into the mix, the more successful you’ll be with it.

Keep in mind that your goal is not just to obtain a bunch of email addresses or phone numbers. The real point of list building is to provide value and to maintain relationships with the people who land on your list.

Pay Per Click (PPC) promotion is one of the four basic types of Search Engines. Pay Per Click promotion is also one of the most cost-effective ways of targeted internet advertising. According to Forbes magazine, PPC or Pay Per Click, accounts to 2 billion dollars a year and is expected to increase to around 8 billion dollars by the year 2008.

Let us take a quick look at how Pay Per Click promotion Search Engines work.

These engines create listings and rate them based on a bid amount the website owner is willing to pay for each click from that search engine. Advertisers bid against each other to receive higher ranking for a specific keyword or phrase.

The highest bidder for a certain keyword or phrase will then have the site ranked as number 1 in the Pay Per Click promotion Search Engines followed by the second and third highest bidder, up to the last number that have placed a bid on the same keyword or phrase. Your ads then will appear prominently on the results pages based on the dollar amount bid you will agree to pay per click.

How do you make money by using Pay Per Click promotion into your online affiliate marketing business?

Most online affiliate marketing programs only pay when a sale is made or a lead delivered after a visitor has clickthrough your site. Your earnings will not always be the same as they will be dependent on the web site content and the traffic market.

The reason why you should incorporate Pay Per Click promotion into your online affiliate marketing program is that earnings are easier to make than in any other kind of online affiliate marketing program not using Pay Per Click promotion. The visitors who have found what they needed from you site are likely to come back and review what you are offering more closely. Then they will eventually come back to search the web for other products.

This kind of online affiliate marketing program is also an easy way for you to generate some more additional revenues. For example, when a visitor on your site does a search in the Pay Per Click promotion Search Engine and clicks on the advertiser bided listings, the advertisers’ account will then be deducted because of that click. With this, you will be compensated 30% to 80% of the advertisers’ bid amount.

Pay Per Click promotion is not only a source of generating easy profits; it can also help you promote your own site. Most of the programs allow the commissions received to be spent for advertising with them instantly and with no minimum earning requirement. This is one of the more effective ways to exchange your raw visitors for targeted surfers who has more tendencies to purchase your products and services.

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is something most new website owners find difficult to master. The way PPC works is simple, you open a free account with a search engine (eg Google or Yahoo), then you place an advertisement for your website with a list of words (these are your “keywords”) you wish to have trigger the showing of your ad, state how much you are willing to pay (“bid”) for each visitor who clicks the ad and ends up on your website and set a daily maximum budget figure. The PPC search engine will then start to deliver visitors (“traffic”) to your website.

When somebody types one of your keywords into the search engine, your advertisement will be shown. Its position will depend upon the amount you offered (“bid”) on the keyword. The highest bidder gets number 1 position, the next highest gets to number 2 and so on (in the event of a “tied” bid, the position is decided on first come first served basis). The higher the position of your ad, the larger the number of people who will see it and the more likely you are to receive visits to your website. It is called Pay Per Click because you only get charged when someone clicks the link to your website, there is no fee for showing your advertisement.

The first thing to note is that although the way PPC works is simple, that is not the same as saying it is easy to use Pay Per Click advertising. Some people seem to take to PPC as naturally as breathing but, for the vast majority of people, PPC involves a steep learning curve and lots of experimenting and testing. For some people PPC brings major grief, lots of frustration and sometimes a lot of wasted expense. Here are a few simple tips to help anyone just starting out with Pay Per Click advertising.

Search Engine Size Matters.

There are literally hundreds of search engines for you to choose from when starting to use PPC Advertising. Some of these smaller companies will accept bids on keywords for a fraction of the minimum bid required by the bigger search engines. However, it would be a false economy to look only at price, you also need to take volume and quality of traffic into account as well as time spent managing your advertising campaigns. Google, Yahoo and Microsoft control about 90% of the total volume of search engine traffic between them. The remaining traffic is spread between the hundreds of smaller search engines. This means you might need to set up campaigns with 20 small search engines to match the traffic you would get from one Yahoo campaign. You might well be getting cheaper clicks this way but you would be spending 20 times as long managing the campaigns. Time is money: stick with Google, Yahoo and Microsoft when you first start using PPC advertising and save experimenting with small companies for later when experience will give you an advantage.

Never Pay More Than A Visit Is Worth.

Of course you want to get as many visitors to your website as possible but never be tempted to increase your bids above a level you know will be profitable. There is no point in getting to the number 1 position for a search term if you have to pay more per click than a visitor will potentially earn for you. Work out your conversion rate (ie what percentage of visitors actually make a purchase) to estimate how much each visitor to your website is worth) and make sure your bids stay below that figure with a comfortable margin for profit. The way to get more visitors is to use more keywords, use the keyword research tool the search engine provides, select keywords carefully for relevance and add them to your campaigns.

Avoid The Obvious

Look for cheaper, less popular keywords and keyword phrases and take advantage of them to bring visitors at a much lower cost than the obvious popular keywords. Single words and two or three word phrases are most popular and, therefore, most expensive. Use keyword research tools to locate longer keyword phrases, similes and less frequently searched terms. Make sure your keyword research is matched to the individual search engines. The best keywords for Yahoo, might not perform well in a Microsoft campaign, so use the keyword tool provided by each company to build up your keywords and keyword phrases for the particular search engine.

Don’t Think “Seen One Seen Them All”

Take time to learn how each search engine works. Although PPC works on the same principles throughout the Internet, each search engine has a different interface. The way you set up and manage a campaign effectively is different with each one and it is essential that you spend time learning how each one works. Failure to do this can mean you end up doing things the hard way or, worse still, it can cost you money. The search engines have different rules, eg on what words may be used in ads and the way keywords relate to your landing page. This means you can’t take your Yahoo ads and keywords and just upload them into a Google or Microsoft campaign. Make sure you understand exactly how to set your maximum bid and daily budget level for each individual campaign: if you get that part wrong you could be waving goodbye to large amounts of wasted cash.
